Stuff From Shane

Britney Stuff! Want more awesome new go to mtv.com!!

6/10/00 Well fans, Britney's mom has been on the go! I've finally finished school and put things in order there. Once that was done, Bryan, Jamie Lynn, her friend Crystal, and myself spent eight days in Orlando with Brit. She and her dancers are working on the new world tour. It's looking great! We would come for the last hour every day to watch. We sat spellbound - the music, the choreography, the set design - everything is amazing! Jamie Lynn and Crystal are only nine, and they sat glued to their seats. Brit's dancers, Andre, T.J., and Alex will not be on the tour this time. They have grown professionally and have started doing choreography for other dancers. It is so hard to let people go because they became a part of a family. Yet, we are so very proud for them to have the opportunity to better themselves. Britney and I love those guys and wish them the best. Brit's new dancers are great also - Ryan, Bryan, and Gill are going to drive you crazy. They are not only dancers, but tumblers as well. Orlando was great and we did so many fun things. We visited the Disney Parks, Universal Studios, the King's Feast, Water World, many wonderful restaurants, and of course, the Florida Mall. In our down time, we swam in the pool and tried to keep up with Britney. I extended our visit twice. Brit would beg me to stay a little bit longer (Jamie Lynn and Crystal would beg to stay, also.) Jamie Lynn missed two ball games, two gym team practices, and two dance revue practices. I know that wasn't fair to the teams and to the dance club, but I believe Brit needed me more than they needed Jamie Lynn at this point. We haven't spent that much down time together as a whole family in quite a while. We won't see Brit again until the end of June. She's going to try to come and surprise Jamie Lynn and come to her revue. Jamie Lynn thinks she has a video to finish, and that she wasn't going to have time to come. Instead, Brit will be in the front row! I want to thank all of you guys and girls who went out and bought Brit and my book. The response has been wonderful. -Lynne Britney Scores Record Sales Week

And so it was written, that a pristine princess
would emerge from the swamps of the southlands
to conquer the five-headed beast and unseat it
from its lofty perch atop the "Billboard" kingdom...

Okay, so it's not exactly the stuff of fairy tales,
but Britney Spears scored a record sales week to
knock 'NSYNC out of the top spot on the album
chart, according to figures released by
SoundScan on Wednesday.

The teen pop queen sold more than 1.3 million
copies of her "Oops!... I Did It Again" in its first
week in stores, making for the best single sales
week for a female artist in SoundScan history.
Britney's latest far outpaced Mariah Carey's
"Daydream," which sold 759,000 copies in one
week in December of 1995, and Whitney
Houston's "Bodyguard" soundtrack, which sold
more than 1 million copies in one week in
December of 1992.

Britney's impressive numbers also helped the
young star push 'NSYNC's "No Strings Attached"
from the number one position on the "Billboard"
album chart, a position the album had held since
its release last month. While Spears' first-week
sales figures earned her a spot in the SoundScan
record book, the singer came well short of
topping the whopping 2.5 million copies that
'NSYNC sold in its first week out.

Spears wasn't the only one to top 'NSYNC last
week, as the boy band drops to number four on
next week's album chart behind new entries from
Britney, Pearl Jam, and Big Tymers. Pearl Jam's
"Binaural" sold an impressive 225,000 copies in
its first week out to debut in the number two spot
on next week's chart. Meanwhile, Cash Money
rappers Big Tymers moved more than 186,000
copies of their "I Got That Work" to debut at
number three.

Jam band journeymen Phish and DJ Quik also
scored top 20 debuts, as Phish's "Farmhouse"
sold more than 88,000 copies to debut at number
12, while DJ Quik's "Balance & Options" moved
more than 68,000 copies to land at 18.

The week's other notable debuts include The
Temptations' "Earresistable" at 54, MXPX's "Ever
Passing Moment" at 56, Nine Days' "The
Madding Crowd" at 87, Carly Simon's "Bedroom
Tapes" at 90, the A*Teens' "The ABBA
Generation" at 100, Five's "Invincible" at 108,
BBMak's "Sooner Or Later" at 118, Dido's "No
Angel" at 144, Fenix TX's self-titled album at 150,
Veruca Salt's "Resolver" at 171, and Sonic
Youth's "NYC Ghosts & Flowers" at 172.

5/24/00 I would like to start this letter by saying thank you to all of you loyal fans who went to the stores and bought Brit's new album. Again, thanks to you, the album has broken records for it's sales. We are so excited! Britney has a really great new world tour planned - it's going to be outrageous! They have some really great new ideas. We're going to spring them on you soon! I was able to visit Brit on Mother's Day in New York. We had a great time. I went to MTV with her and they surprised me by putting me on the show with her - for Mother's Day. Needless to say, I was very surprised. It turned out being a lot of fun. Everyone was very nice to all of us. Saturday Night Live was hilarious - I have never laughed so much! That was really a new experience. After the show we went to a party. All of the cast and producers were there and I met some actors and actresses from movies and sitcoms. We didn't stay long because Britney was tired. We went back to the hotel and caught up on our sleep - our favorite past-time. Brit is so tired and wants to come home. She absolutely loved SNL, but she was so anxious about doing it, it exhausted her. She hasn't really recovered yet. Brit and I went shopping for things for the house. The house is fabulous. It has a million different roofs and roof pitches. Well, maybe not a million, but a lot it is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Sometimes I get so excited talking about it - I talk too fast and almost hyperventilate! I think I want to show the house to Brit now, and give her more of an idea what it's going to be like, then at other times I want to completely finish it and show her the final result. Jamie Lynn, Bryan, and myself are going to stay with Brit while she rehearses for the new tour. If I could just finish school - it seems like an eternity until we finish! Jamie Lynn is bringing a friend with her. She is becoming such the social bug. She has to finish softball and dance revue before we can feel the least bit free. Brit will be seeing one of her shows, hopefully. She will be doing one of Brit's songs from the Off- Broadway play. It is adorable! Thank you again for your support with Brit's new CD. With a new album in stores and slew of good
fortune (or at least some mad cash) coming her
way as a result, Britney Spears is looking to give
a little something back.

Spears has been making the press rounds in
New York to get the word out about this week's
release of "Oops!... I Did It Again," and the singer
has also been talking about her new charitable
undertaking.

"This summer I have a camp where 100
underprivileged kids go for two weeks and they
work with the best choreographers, the best
dance coaches, singing coaches, activity
coaches, and it really is just an opportunity for
me to give back," Spears told MTV's "Total
Request Live" on Tuesday. "So many wonderful
things have been happening to me, and it just
makes me feel good about me."

The Britney press caravan (which actually
included a call to Howard Stern's syndicated
radio show on Wednesday morning) will make
stops at Nickelodeon's "All That" on Saturday,
NBC's "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on
Tuesday, May 23, and the Fox network for her
"Britney Spears In Hawaii" special on June 8.

Britney Puts Tickets On Auction Block

Life has been good to Britney Spears, and now the young star is planning to return the favor a bit.

Britney is teaming up with MTV.com for a charity ticket auction that will benefit her Britney Spears Foundation and Musicians On Call. Spears will make two tickets to each stop on her upcoming summer tour. The highest bidders at each stop will also get the opportunity to meet Britney when she rolls into their town.

Bidding on select dates opens on Saturday, June 3 at MTV.com and runs throughout the summer.

With its portion of the proceeds, the Britney Spears Foundation will support Camp Summer Stars, a performing arts summer camp for young people set to open its doors August 20 through the 29 of this year.

Meanwhile, the auction's other beneficiary, Musicians On Call, is a non-profit organization "dedicated to using music and entertainment to promote and complement the healing process for patients."
